The Snow Busters Tour part 3

Dear Friends,

Here is the next instalment, part 3 of our overseas trip, sorry it is later than we had planned.

After ministering in the Arabian Gulf we ( Paul , Christine and Jonathan ) flew to Hyderabad in India arriving at 03.15 am on January 10th.  We were met by Moses Newton and 2 of his team. They took us on over an hour and a half journey to the Church and Orphanage where Moses and his wife Glory live. This was our base for the next week; Kerstin joined us from England the next day.

Moses and Glory have worked and ministered in Toophan for the past 15 years, It is approximately 55 km from Hyderabad. This was an area of very little Christian activity but plenty of militant Hindus and occult practitioners. Over the years a breakthrough has happened and the church is growing. There are now also 6 other village churches with pastors and 16 house groups in other villages.

During our time there, Christine and Jonathan both spoke on the Sunday at 2 of the Church’s. Christine also did a day for ladies, Jonathan and Kerstin did a day with the youth and I did 2 days of ministry with local leaders.

We all had the privilege of praying for people and seeing God move in their lives as well as seeing people receive healing and being set free to be who the Lord has called them to be. We were also visiting villages in the evenings to strengthen the local works. Every night we saw people coming to Jesus and again saw many healings. It was amazing to see the Lord moving in people lives and being Lord over the meetings. All 4 of us knew a real sense of the Lords leading in all we were involved in. The time with Moses and Glory was precious to us all and we look forward to returning to equip and train leaders further. .

Mumbai

From Hyderabad we flew to Mumbai to spend the weekend ministering at a one of the New Life Fellowships. Again we saw how the Lord brought it all together and each day we saw Him put things in place a bit like a jigsaw puzzle.  It was such a privilege again to see the Lord meet people needs, to see people being healed and encouraged in Him. There was such a hunger for the word of God and a desire to move in the things of God. The people were from a variety of backgrounds, many were very poor from the slums areas, where the Lord has been moving amongst them with many coming to the Lord and being healed.

One girl in particular stands out, the end of her nose and part of one of her ears was missing. Her father told me they had been eaten off by rats when she was a baby! The whole family found purpose and acceptance in the Lord Jesus regardless of their caste. They are now part of His royal family.  This fellowship has a vision to grow to 1,500 this year. This month they saw 64 people saved and added to the Church. We were also the first westerns to minister there it was a great privilege for us.

Throughout the whole area of Mumbai the New Life group of Churches saw 51,000 people added to their churches last year and is it all conversion growth. This year the plan is to raise 10,000 leaders to cope with the growth and for new churches to be planted.  Pastor Tony and his wife Maria-Lena sent me an email concerning Nasik where I ministered on the international Leaders School of Ministry back in November.

Tony writes
“We had sent a team from NLF, Wadala to Nasik earlier this year after you visit with us in Mumbai. The team went to the villages and ministered to the people.

They had an excellent response and the preaching was confirmed through accompanying miracles. They are still very motivated and look forward to the next mission outreach.

While they were returning, unknown to them, one of the leaders who were conducting a baptism service at Nasik, along with the believers there, was beaten up by some unknown miscreants. The baptism service was disrupted and they could not go ahead. Several believers were hospitalized – with head injuries – and one of the Nasik leaders who attends the service   Joaquim, who was part of the believers and assisting at the Baptism had his hand broken and his car smashed.

We visited Nasik a few weeks later. Our first response had been to head for Nasik immediately. We rang and informed Joaquim of our intentions but Joaquim requested us not to come down to Nasik immediately.  He had things quiet down and we eventually visited Nasik a few weeks later. Most of the believers have recovered. Winston, whose arm had been fractured – broken – still has his arm in plaster – but its mending. He informed me the other day when I called him that he can now wash his head.  So I presume that the stitches on his head are now removed and the wounds there have eventually been healed. His car was insured.  So they’ll defray a part of the repair costs.

The Nasik Church went through its dose of minor persecution but we do know that it’s all a part of His plan. It’s also not the way I would have planned it – but – He’s building His Church and He knows best!
The Church here is experiencing a bit of growth.  We had around 64 souls added in the last three weeks at Wadala.  Our target for this year is that we shall be around 1500 if the LORD’s mercy and outpouring continue and if we are able to handle all He pours in.  It’s all growing through the house Churches and we look with faith to the LORD that we shall continue to reap in, gather and contain the harvest.”

The events of persecution is not uncommon in India, it may be that is why the Church is growing!! I could recount stories of many other places and other believers who have faced such difficulties because of their faith in Jesus.

GOA,  ministry, sunshine and great food

From Mumbai it was onto another flight this time to Goa. My initial contact had cancelled arrangements at the last minute but through a friend in the Gulf, we were introduced to a church led by Dominic and Joan, a couple native to the area. They have a church of approx 150 people who come to the church from the surrounding villages. The church is where Dominic had a bar but after his conversion he turned it into a church. It now serves a different spirit!

Once again the Lord was present to save, heal and refresh people. The added benefit we were able to have the beach ministering to us on our last day there! Goa is European India; it is so different from the rest of India because of the Portuguese influence. The food was fantastic!

The ministry in Goa with Dominic was a great end to the snowbusters’ tour. For me (Paul)it had been a trip that lasted just under 3 months. Thousands of miles travelled, hundreds of souls saved, many healings, deliverances and the saints encouraged with the word of God.

During the whole trip we saw the Lord provide, guard and guide us ever day in amazing ways; we give him all the Glory.

We returned to the UK at the end of January invigorated with all that the Lord had done. The next few days back in Rochdale saw snow!!! Nothing like I experienced last year but it confirmed the snowbusters tour was over!

Now we begin to look ahead as to how we can serve the Indian Church. We are looking to conduct one week Leaders School of Ministry in the Hyderabad area later this year.  This will be a time when up to 200 leaders, church planters, evangelists can come and be built up and encouraged, trained and equip. The costing for it all works out in the region of 3,000 pounds that works out at 15 pounds per person. This costing includes providing meals for the leaders their travel and accommodation. If this is something you or your church would like to be a part of by sponsoring one or more of the leaders then please let us know.

The Days Ahead

As for the days ahead they in some ways remain uncertain for us. We are still sharing a flat with friends in Rochdale. We have been looking at houses in the North West of England but as yet have not seen anything that has leapt out at us in our price range.

We have been out and about speaking at various churches and seeing good fruit. We are open to be wherever the Lord would have us be based, so we wait on directions from above whilst trying the doors that are before us. I suppose our hearts are for mission but we are open to all that the Lord would bring to us. We do find our present situation at times frustrating but we are keeping our focus upon Him. We know He will make a way where there seems to be no way! We would value your prayer for us at this time.

Good news  ...... We became grandparents for the second time on March 13th when our daughter in law Elizabeth gave birth to a second son  Luke Samuel. Andi and Charlie are very pleased as are we!

Every blessing
