Paul has been traveling to
India since 1985. His first visit was to speak at OM’s all-India conference
and to visit some of the evangelism teams. That initial six week trip led
to making strong contacts with the ‘Daniels’ in Orai in Uttah Pradesh.
Since that first visit, Paul has taken teams out to visit Orai and engage
in village evangelism as well as strengthening the then small group of
believers. Each trip into the land of a thousand curries has seen some
great miracles of God, where the sick have been healed, demons have been
cast out, and the Good News has been preached.
Since that first visit, the
work in Orai has developed into an english-medium boarding school and mission
base with a number of village house churches in the surrounding area. A
number of local evangelists are also employed to work in the villages.
This area of the north of India is known as the “missions graveyard” but
we are seeing great signs of life s many people are turning to Jesus as
Saviour and Lord.
In the South of India in
a town called Vijaywada in Andra Pradesh, over the past ten years or so
we have developed an orphanage school and mission base. Over a hundred
children have been rescued and looked after. This has also led to a network
of small church leaders and village evangelists gathering at this focal
point. Each year we conduct in one or two Pastors and Leaders conferences
over three day periods, and visit many of the smaller works, some being
in tribal villages.
In the future we plan to
establish a missions training base where pastors and evangelists from all
over India come for two weeks for spiritual refreshment before going back
to continue their work. Each year we take teams to accompany us on this
mission, but the teams must be prepared for ‘basic’mission and a love of
curry !
